Verdant Bio Receives FDA Clearance for Rapid Bedside Sepsis Test

The 20-minute test aims to help clinicians identify sepsis hours earlier than conventional lab workflows.

Verdant Bio Receives FDA Clearance for Rapid Bedside Sepsis Test

BOSTON, Mass. — Verdant Bio, Inc. announced today that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for VeriSense, a rapid bedside test that helps clinicians detect sepsis in approximately 20 minutes.

Sepsis affects an estimated 1.7 million adults in the United States each year, and outcomes depend heavily on how quickly treatment begins. VeriSense analyzes a small blood sample at the point of care, returning a result well before conventional laboratory panels.

“Every hour matters in sepsis,” said Dr. Elena Cho, chief medical officer at Verdant Bio. “Putting a fast, reliable result directly in the clinician’s hands can change the trajectory of care.”

The company plans a phased rollout to hospital systems beginning this autumn and is pursuing regulatory clearances in additional markets.

About Verdant Bio, Inc. — Verdant Bio develops point-of-care diagnostics for time-critical conditions. The company is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
